Whitney Woelmer

Whitney joined the Carey Lab in summer 2018 and forecasts water quality in the Roanoke drinking water reservoirs as part of the lab’s NSF-supported Smart and Connected Communities project. Her interests focus on the relationship between human activities and their effects on water resources. Prior to joining the lab, Whitney worked at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Great Lakes Science Center studying eutrophication in the Great Lakes and was a Peace Corps Rural Aquaculture Extension Agent in Zambia.

During her Ph.D. (supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship), Whitney has also worked on the MacrosystemsEDDIE.org project and Ecological Forecasting Initiative as its Student Association Co-Chair.
